While coaching with Maria Diaz, I learned a lot about myself. I learned ways to “get in my way” and learned strategies to overcome those tendencies. Initially, I was hesitant to engage in this coaching journey because I was used to doing everything independently. Looking back now, I am so glad that I took the step of faith and trusted the process. Early on in my coaching, I learned that it is ok to ask for help. I realized that asking for and receiving support enhances my life and truly assists me in reaching my goals. When this opportunity presented itself in my life, I was not exactly sure what I wanted to work. I just knew that I desired personal growth. As a mom of a new baby, it felt necessary to focus on balance and self-care. I was able to talk through my former belief that self-care is selfish and finally let go of that mindset. After a few sessions, Maria and I focused on my dream of going into the medical field. We discussed my specific capabilities and personality regarding the medical careers I had been considering. Maria provided me with many different tools to enhance what I was working on inside and outside coaching sessions. These tools catered to my specific learning styles and helped me understand what I wanted in life. During our sessions, Maria empowered me to discover what I needed to do to progress toward my dream of working in the medical field. It helped me “get unstuck” and allowed me to see the tangible steps I could take to move forward. We would laugh because I told Maria I am a “free spirit” and am not naturally drawn to have structure and organization. However, I was able to see the significant benefits of incorporating more structure in my life, and I learned skills to assist me in planning out my success in my future career. Maria empowered me to genuinely believe that I can do whatever I put my mind to simply by breaking things down into steps. This coaching was what I needed to keep me moving forward on this career path with complete confidence in myself.
